Premier Ford Announces Transformational Investment for Peel Memorial

March 26, 2021 BRAMPTON – Today the Premier of Ontario, the Hon. Doug Ford, and the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, the Hon. Christine Elliott, were on site at Peel Memorial to announce $18 million in support for Osler. This next phase of development for Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness will involve the construction of a new inpatient building and the expansion of the Urgent Care Centre to 24/7 operations, paving the way for an eventual emergency department. To support the transformation of Peel Memorial, the province will fund the construction of over 250 new beds at the site.

Transforming Peel Memorial will have a significant, positive impact for patients, our local health system and the broader community. It also enables Osler to continue to move forward with creating additional hospital capacity to meet the needs of one of the fastest-growing and most diverse areas of Ontario. We thank the Ontario Government along with local elected officials, community members and our supporters for making health care and hospital expansion in Brampton a priority. It’s an exciting time for health care in our community.
