BRAMPTON, ON – Effective today, the City of Brampton has implemented a new Short Term Rental Bylaw for property owners who offer their home as short-term rental units on digital websites such as Airbnb and VRBO.
Under the new short-term rental bylaw, a homeowner may rent their property or properties through Airbnb or VRBO, however they must first obtain a license from the city. Permitted tenants may include a single family, or if multiple rooms are rented out to unrelated individuals, no more than three persons may be permitted at one time regardless of the number of bedrooms in the home. The time limit for each rental period may not exceed 28 days, and each rental unit may not be rented out for more than 180 days in total per year.
Note: This bylaw does not affect existing and regular long-term rental uses such as registered basement apartments or houses, where a single family, or a maximum of four unrelated individual tenants, limit remains.
Residents may email [email protected] or call 905-874-2100 for more information.
